{To Give Or Not To Give}

Christmas time is such a wonderful time of year, for most. It's full of annoying music, mouth-watering food, fattening desserts, surprising gifts, and lots of family and friends. I love this time of year!!
I love this time of year because it feeds my shopping addiction, but I don't feel so bad spending all of my Hubby's hard earned money because I am buying for others. :-)
One of the difficult tasks for me is buying people a fabulous gift that either:
 A) They Love!
B) They Love, but now feel like shit about what they got you
C) They Love it, and now everyone else in the room wants to hide their gift.
I mean it's really hard to buy for the people we love because we want to give them the best, but we don't want them to feel like they have to sell their left kidney to earn it.
We have some fabulous gifts on our list: two ipad minis, kitchen aid mixers, William-Sonoma all Clad kitchenware set, $100 gift cards to various stores and restaurants {yes gift cards, my husband hates them, but I'd much rather receive a gift card to a store I love than a gift I hate}, Lucchese boots, Burberry jacket, Burberry Scar, Coach Wristlet, etc.
 I do not just pick a random spectacular gift and buy it for them, I pay close attention the entire year to what they say they want or wish they had. Then I compose a list on my phone to refer to later around Christmas or birthdays.
But how do you go about distributing great gifts and expecting the recipient to understand that you do not expect equal costing gifts?? It was really vexatious to me when my sweet Grandpa {who is rather wealthy himself} text me saying he was Christmas shopping for my husband and I, but couldn't pick something because "what do you get the couple that has everything?".  I shudder at the thought of family members dreading shopping for us. Hell, a hand painted photo or a framed picture would mean the world to me!
This may sound pathetic, but we have literally resorted to buying mediocre gifts to appease everyone's conscious, then dropping random gifts off at families houses wrapped in our "Specialty" paper from "Santa". Ha! I don't care if they thank us for the gifts, I just want them to have something awesome they may not have bought themselves, adults included! Especially adults.
Does this make me sound {crazy}? LOL

Happy Birthday To Me, Happy Birthday To.....

I love spontaneous vacations! Especially when they are in a foreign country.
We decided through TravelZoo we would take a last minute trip to Italy. It's close to my birthday, so I absolutely do not mind spending it in Italy. Talk about a fabulous birthday gift!

Rome is splendid!

 Welcome to the New York City of Italy. A city with wonderful food, addicting Gelato, astounding architecture, fabulously dressed people, and romantic accents. I could live here.

I am a foodie, through and through, the food options are endless. I love wandering the quant cobblestone streets, meandering through alley ways and stumbling upon a piazza. A piazza full of bustling restaurants and romantic musicians serenading you throughout dinner.
Did I die and go to heaven?

I am soaking up the atmosphere in every possible sense.
He is enjoying it almost as much as I am, however I would rather be enjoying it with anyone else at this moment. This is a storybook moment, I wish with every fiber of my body I could freeze time and savor it for just a bit longer. He interrupts my trance upon the musicians to ask, "Why are you so grumpy today?". I sarcastically reply, "Oh, I guess I am just tired from all the traveling." and go about listening to the violinist, attempting to tune him out.

I can tell my lack of conversation is boring Him, which is not hard to notice since He has now whipped His phone out to start checking his usual business e-mails, and parusing ESPN and Facebook. Maybe now He will understand.

He puts His phone away and asks the waiter for a rather expensive bottle of wine.

Yep, He knows.

I fight back every urge I have to get up from the table and storm off.

The waiter brings back the wine, pours a sample, He nods in approval, and the waiter pours each of us a glass. Once the waiter is gone He looks up and asks, "What would you like to do tonight for your birthday? Would you like to get Gelato after dinner?".

I roll my eyes. I am bubbling with anger inside. How many times had we discussed my birthday? How many times had we talked about what I had wanted to do for my birthday? Had we not just had a conversation the night before? How could he have forgotten so easily, so quickly?

I make the snide reply, "What in the WORLD would you do without Facebook to remind you it's my birthday?" He lowers his head and I fight back the urge to feel sorry for him. He mumbles under his breath, "I don't know.".
I grab my wine glass, and turn my attention to the musician's again.

Happy Birthday to me....

{Welcome To My World}

Welcome to Young, Fabulous and Uncensored.

I decided to start this blog as a way of being more honest with the world. There are so many things I would love to share or say, but unfortunately too many people get butt-hurt way too easily. I needed an outlet, a way to freely express myself, in a sense at least.

I hope by reading this blog you see that you may not be the only one feeling the way you feel, that your family may not be as crazy as you thought, or inspire you to get out and do something fabulous.

I want this to be a blog about REAL life, REAL experiences, REAL problems...but most importantly about being Young, Fabulous and Uncensored.
